Aadil sat nervously sweating. Was he going to be suspended? Fired? Sued?

His confidence from last weekends protest where he was surrounded by people from all walks of life trying to stop a genocide was gone.

Now he sat here waiting outside HR's office, where just inside the room he knew the President, the legal counsel of the company, and HR were all meeting to discuss his fate.

Julia from HR came out, she was not smiling.

"We will see you now."

Aadil walked into the giant conference room at North Legal and sat across from Julia. Sitting to her right was Joshua the President of the firm, and to her left another lawyer he didn’t recognize. Did lawyers also have lawyers?

When he said nothing, she continued, "On your social media post on DialedUp you said that Oct. 7 wasn't an isolated incident, and was justified because of 75 years of Israeli Occupation."

He tried to remain calm, but it was tough when one comment out of so many was just put on exhibit.

Anger surged inside him as he responded, "Excuse me?! There's a Genocide happening right now and this is what I am being put on trial for. Didn't the President and the firm issue support for Israel immediately, yet have said nothing in the time since despite them killing thousands of men, women, and kids, in Gaza?"

It's like he was speaking to no one, Julia, kept speaking while the other two remained silent. "At this firm we don't tolerate discrimination, especially Anti-Semitism..."

"How is criticizing a state against a faith?"

"...due to your breach of our employee code of conduct, we unfortunately have to terminate you, please turn in your IT laptop and key cards, security will escort you out the door."

Joshua and the counsel stood up without saying a word, and walked away but he could hear them muttering and shaking their heads in disgust.

As they exited Hardeep the security guy came in. He looked sympathetically at Aadil. Julia gestured to the door, "If you will collect your personal belongings."

"Shame on you Julia, you are supped to to look out for employees." Is all he could say.

She nodded in that infuriating HR cover your self way, and he walked to his desk.

He put his things in a white box that was provided, and turned over his laptop, and security cards.

His friends in IT Sameer, and Avinath looked at him with more sympathy. He wished the Earth would swallow him up.
