RAMADAN MUBARAK
Was the message that popped up on his families WhyTalk messenger group.
Aadil looked out at the night sky. You couldn’t see the moon in Toronto but Ramadan had been declared by Saudia Arabia, and by those who were using the calculation method to determine the moon.
IT’S NOT RAMADAN YET. THE MOON HASN’T BEEN SIGHTED.
Of course not everyone in his family followed Saudi Arabia, Global Moon Sighting, or Calculation. They in fact looked for a moon sighted in a local North American Area.
Never mind the family in Pakistan who somehow always started Ramadan a day after whenever Saudi Arabia picked.
It was an old problem because the Muslim calendar was a lunar calendar, yet somehow each year during Ramadan the Muslim Month of Fasting it was always on everyone’s mind.
But this year Aadil really could care less. He simply didn’t have energy to think it was important, when he thought of his Palestinian brothers and sisters who would endure the harshest Ramadan in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian territories.
All the Muslims he knew were always frustrated because of the lack of unity, or the awkward conversations you had to have when explaining to non Muslim-Colleagues and Bosses that Ramadan and Eid (the holiday after Ramadan) could be on different days.

Unity. Well likely on Ramadan dates Muslims wouldn’t find it globally, but when it came to Palestinians he had never seen such a level of unity.
Every Muslim he knew was fighting mad.
They were sharing on social media, writing to their MP’s, Boycotting, Protesting.
It had been months with no end in site.
But Ramadan was a chance for Muslims to go Super Saiyan for the Palestinians.
A month of extra worship, nights in the mosque, and the month that connected Muslims around the world. Well the love and anger, and prayers for the Palestinians would be on everyone’s lips.
Ramadan was a power up. And Muslim needed to supercharge themselves to keep the fight going.

So before his family could start World War 3 on WhyTalk he had to intervene. There was nothing more dangerous than a senior with a chat function!
Salaam, everyone usually we would debate and then do whatever our local mosque, or country was doing anyway and life would continue, and we would do this again in 30 days for Eid. Then again Next Eid, and again next year.
But let’s forget all that and put our efforts, prayers, to save Palestine. None of us are perfect but this Ramadan will define the next decade of our lives. We have something now that unites us. The fact that Palestine is being wiped out, and the fact that when we rush to defend it especially in the Western World they are saying we are Anti-Semitic
He half expected to be dismissed by everyone for trying to talk over elders.

But after a moments pause his cousins, and family said you know what you are right Aadil.
It may have seemed like a small thing. But it was massive. Somehow Aadil knew that across the world in Why Talk chat’s people were coming to this same resolution.
Palestinians didn’t have time for their debates. They needed the Muslims of the world now.
